Overview
Professional-grade weed control for early spring and fall applications
Contains 0.48% of the active ingredient prodiamine
Prevents 30 grass and broadleaf weeds, including crabgrass, poa annua, goosegrass, henbit, and more
Made with patented DG Technology (dispersible granule) ensures granules dissolve rapidly upon watering, moving weed control directly into the soil for maximum impact
Small particles for more coverage per square inch and superior performance
Designed to prevent weeds; will not eliminate existing weeds
Barricade is made with our patented DG Technology. Once it hits water, each granule breaks down into thousands of tiny particles that move down into the soil fast—right where they’re needed to stop weeds before they start.
Small Particle Size
Barricade’s ultra-fine granules mean better coverage across your lawn. More particles per square inch = more effective weed control with every pass.
When to Apply Barricade
Spring Applications
To keep summer annual weeds away, whether you have northern or southern turf, apply Barricade in early spring. Make sure to do this before the soil temperature hits 55 degrees Fahrenheit at a depth of four inches. This timing will stop weed seeds from germinating.
Fall Applications
You can also use Barricade in the fall to prevent winter annual weeds like poa annua. The ideal time to apply pre-emergent is before soil temperatures drop below 70°F consistently. This depends on your location but is typically between mid-September and early October.
Barricade and Seeding
Just like Barricade stops weeds from sprouting, it can also prevent grass seed from germinating.
If you've already seeded, hold off on applying Barricade for 60 days or until after the second mowing, whichever takes longer.
The waiting period before you can seed or overseed after using Barricade depends on your climate and how much Barricade you applied. Check out the table here for the recommended intervals.
Pro Tips for Best Results
Check The Forecast
Avoid applying before heavy rainfall so particles don't get washed away.
Mow First
Clear any lawn debris and make it easier for particles to reach the soil.
Clean Up
Sweep or blow product off the driveways/sidewalks back into the lawn.
Water Deep
Your lawn will need at least 0.2 inches of water.
Spreader Settings
We recommend using a broadcast spreader. These spreader settings are a guide. Many variables such as walking speed, terrain, particle size, density, and spreader condition can affect these settings. Be sure to calibrate your spreader before every application.
Barricade is safe to use on all turf types including Bermuda, Fescue, St. Augustine, Ryegrass, Zoysia, Bluegrass, Bentgrass and Centipede.
Barricade is designed to prevent 30 grass and broadleaf weeds like poa annua, crabgrass, goosegrass, foxtail, henbit, lambs quarter and more. Check the label for the full list. Just a heads-up, it won’t prevent dandelions and clover.
Yes, you do! This product needs to be watered in with at least .2 inches of water. Using a rain gauge to measure irrigation can be helpful.
Once product has been applied, watered-in, and the lawn has then completely dried, pets are safe to enter back out onto the lawn.
